Sarah Hankinson is a Melbourne-based artist, illustrator, muralist and art educator. Inspired by the natural world, Sarah has a passion for botanical, landscape, and still life painting and drawing. Her work illuminates the beauty in our everyday surroundings, inviting us to slow down and deepen our appreciation of the natural world.
Art
Sarah’s painting and drawings reflect our natural world. The scenes, often flowers or landscapes in a variety of mixed media foster a sense of place and illuminate the beauty around us.
Drawing Club
Drawing Club is a casual still life drawing session that offers space and time to draw from observation, with a focus on process over product.

Murals
Sarah transforms spaces with her murals featuring oversized flowers and foliage. She has created murals for schools, hospitals, residential homes and businesses.
In her illustration and art practice, Sarah demonstrates a deft ability to successfully utilise a range of mixed media—from rich, layered oil pastels to dynamic watercolour washes—harmonising both traditional and modern techniques.
Illustration
Specialising in the fields of botanical, property, travel, lifestyle, beauty, advertising, food, wine, events, fashion and marketing Sarah is an established illustrator. Some of her commercial clients include Prada, Harrods, Anthroplogie, Vogue, SBS, Cadbury, Maybelline, Dove and Tourism Australia.
Workshops
Sarah frequently runs mixed media art classes and workshops designed to guide you through art making basics including observation, drawing skills, colour theory, tone and value, spacial relations, perspective and medium techniques.
Working within the community, Sarah is passionate about engaging, encouraging, and inspiring others by sharing her love and knowledge of art, and by bringing people together through the process of art making.
Community Art
Through community art projects including collaborative murals, residencies, activations and hands on workshops Sarah works with children, young people and adults.
Art Incursion
Sarah runs a in school art workshop incursion program titled ‘Wellbeing through Nature and Art’ The incursion consists of drawing games, art exercises, collaborative projects, and/or murals.
