Nature Drawing - Observational Drawing Workshop
Saturday 8th November 2025
10:00 am - 12.00 pm
Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve
558 New St, Brighton VIC 3186
Learn how to sketch and draw from nature at Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve.
Working from life, Sarah will guide you through the fundamentals of observational drawing, beginning with prompts and short warm-up exercises before moving into a longer, focused landscape study. Each participant will receive a concertina sketchbook to work in, with pencils, charcoal and pastels supplied for use on the day. Throughout the session you will explore techniques such as observation, shading, line, tone and composition while experimenting with a range of mediums.
BYO art supplies also welcome if you prefer your own sketchbook or medium of choice.
All ages and skill levels welcome and encouraged.
With a focus on appreciating nature and making time to play, Sarah’s art classes embody creativity, community and connection. The hope is that each participant will find their own way within the class and have the confidence to go forward incorporating art and creativity into their daily lives.
5% of all sales is donated to the Yalukit Willam Nature Association (YWNA).
YWNA nurtures and restores indigenous grasses and wildflowers - ecosystems that are otherwise threatened across Victoria. Their work not only supports biodiversity and ecological recovery through surveys of birds, insects, and water quality, but also deepens Cultural connections on Country in collaboration with their Patron, Boon Wurrung Elder Dr N’arwee’t Carolyn Briggs AM.
Please note: As this workshop will be held outdoors, it is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if required.
